Bone
Season
do you know what fear is ?
Logline:
Two unsuspecting teenaged girls become entangled
in
the bizarre and supernatural realm of evil spirits from a world beyond.
Synopsis:
In
a small rustic New Jersey town, the townsfolk will tell strange vague
old stories. There are stories of the town and what they don't normally
tell "strangers" in casual conversation. If you listen, the old timers
will tell you the town of Pine Lake is haunted, haunted with
otherworldly things.
Kee-shay-la-muh’-Ka-ong,
the Creator, created this land and made various creatures,
alive
and dead. He threw cedar branches down on the water and they co-exist
there. That is what they say unofficially. These stories are dismissed
as old “Piney” tales.
The
official town records and the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton tell
of witchcraft and trials of the 1700's and persecutions deep in the
Pine Woods. What they don’t record is that the Lenape Indians
buried
their dead in the middle of town, sacred land. Pine Lake is a "power
place" and strange things happen there, mysterious things. People
actually die of fright!
In
1972 widower Clayton Pyncheon lived there in a cottage with his
daughters, Jenny and Abbie. To this day both Abbie and Jenny refuse to
talk about that time. As teenagers they listened to the stories and
read books on spells and potions. What they didn’t know was
that you
had to be prepared when you summon horrific entities from the Spirit
World. The results could be deadly.
They
had no idea of their own power or the danger that was present.
There
was something else, something deeper, Abbie and Jenny
couldn’t escape
an old family secret. They never realized they were the direct
descendants of a man guilty of despicable crimes, sentencing people to
death, a witch hunter. He was also a man cursed by a powerful warlock.
With his dying breath the warlock cursed all Pyncheon descendants. Without this
knowledge the fearless girls summon and materialize the monstrous forces that
were feared by more primitive men and which ultimately proved fatal.
This
piece has been thoroughly researched and is based on actual or
perceived events. I am a serious fan of horror movies that go beyond
the gore, movies like The Omen, The Fly and The Shining. This movie is
based in the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey because I grew up
there and did hear stories.
